North Elephant Butte State Park & Caballo Reservoir - 60 miles north of Las Cruces on I-25. Provide year
round water recreation activities including boating, fishing & bird watching.
Bosque Del Apache Bird Refuge - 100 miles north of Las Cruces. Established as a National Wildlife
Refuge in 1939, the Bosque provides a refuge & breeding ground for migratory birds & other wildlife.
West The Gila National Forest - 150 miles northwest of Las Cruces via I-10West to NM180 North
Rock Hound State Park & City of Rocks State Park - These parks offer miles & miles of beautiful
landscapes of rocks & boulders.
South Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino - 40 miles south of Las Cruces. Sunland Park Racetrack offers
quarter horse racing & thoroughbred racing December through May. The Casino offers 300 gaming machines and is open year-round.
El Paso - 45 miles southeast of Las Cruces. Enjoy such attractions as a zoo, minor league
baseball team and professional hockey & soccer teams, Ft. Bliss Museum, shopping & great restaurants.
Cuidad Juarez, Mexico - 50 miles south of Las Cruces. Shop for clothing, jewelry, furniture &
sample traditional Mexican cuisine. Take the Border Jumper Trolley from the El Paso Civic Center to Juarez & back.
East White Sands - 50 miles east of Las Cruces on Highway 70. Visitors can picnic, “surf” the dunes, or
take a nice stroll through a portion of the 275 square mile national park.
New Mexico Museum of Space History - 65 miles east of Las Cruces. International Space Hall of Fame.
Ruidoso - approximately 100 miles northeast of Las Cruces. Beautiful mountain village offering
snow skiing, theater, Ruidoso Downs Racetrack, shopping & restaurants.
