New Mexico’s agricultural heritage comes to life at this 47 acre interactive museum. The South 20 portion of the museum features livestock. There are also blacksmith demonstrations. Other demonstrations include milking, weaving, sewing, quilting, and dowsing. The museum also houses special art exhibits, and cooking classes.

Las Cruces Railroad Museum

The museum is located in an historic Sante Fe depot. The museum has exhibits about local railroading history of Las Cruces and the Mesilla valley ,railroad memorabilia, and model layouts.They bare located at 351 N Mesilla St and are open Thursday through Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm.

War Eagles Air Museum

The Museum is located at the Dona Ana County airport at Santa Teresa, New Mexico, 4o miles south of Las Cruces. As you tour through the museum you will discover warbirds, trainers and civilian aircraft spanning 70 years of aviation history.

New Mexico State University  Museum

The Museum collections are primarily anthropological (archaeological and ethnographic) with secondary collections in history and the natural sciences.  Anthropological collections document the cultural diversity of the border in the Greater Southwest and northern Mexico.  Exhibits are developed by students and staff as well as brought in from other institutions.

These exhibits focus on the traditions of on-going historic and prehistoric cultures.  Past exhibits have explored life in 1930s’ New Mexico, Southwestern weaving, prehistoric cultural interactions along the Gila River, the Fremont expedition, and everyday life in a Las Cruces Hispanic household at the turn of the 20th century.  The Museum also provides public lectures on a variety of topics. These lectures feature faculty, staff, and visiting experts who present insights on cultural traditions, events, and activities.

Zuhl Geological Collection at New Mexico State University

The collection contains petrified wood, fossils, rock, and minerals.Several displays let viewers see the beauty that is found when petrified wood is cut and polished. The collections is located at 775 College DR (on NMSU campus).

New Mexico State University Art Gallery

The University Art Gallery serves as a showcase for the visual arts in the border region.
The largest visual arts facility in South Central New Mexico, the gallery presents six to nine
exhibitions annually. They  feature contemporary and historical art of regional, national
and international importance. They have the largest Retablo display in the nation, featuring over 1700 retablos.
The Art Gallery has approximately 1200 contemporary works in the Permanent Collection, with a particular strength in modern works on paper.
The University Art Gallery is located in D.W. Williams Hall, University Ave. east of Solano, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Museum Of Natural History

The Las Cruces Museum of Natural History is located in the Mesilla Valley Mall and is dedicated to broadening people’s understanding of natural history, science, and the environment of New Mexico and the Chihuahuan Desert. They offer exhibits and educational programs geared towards this mission. The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center houses more than 40 live animals from our area.

Branigan Cultural Center

The Branigan Cultural Center collections are comprised of historic and cultural art, archival materials, and historic objects.  The Branigan Cultural Center  acquires historic artifacts related to the history of Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley to foster awareness and understanding of the history and multi-cultural heritage of Las Cruces and its environs.  The Branigan Cultural Center’s historic collection includes items dating from the 1850s and the founding of the City of Las Cruces.  The collection includes costumes and accessories, furniture, portraits, textiles, toys and dolls, correspondence, and photographs.

Las Cruces Museum Of Art

This museum hosts traveling exhibits and features the works of nationally known artists. The exhibits change several times a year and are sometimes accompanied by lectures and demonstrations.

Space Murals, Inc

This museum features a water tower mural, and gallery, honoring the country’s space program. There is an astronaut gallery, space artifacts, and gift shop. Open Monday through Saturday from 9 am – 5 pm, and Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm.

White Sand Missile Range Museum & Missile Park

This museum and park focuses on the origin of the US missile and space program and the beginning of the nuclear age.Weapons that helped win the Cold War and Desert Storm are featured at the Missile Park.   Be sure and have your ID and proof of auto registration and insurance.
