Performing Arts & Theatre

The American Southwest Theatre Company is located at the Hershel Zohn Theater on the New Mexico State University campus. They have performances from September through May, including Shakespeare, musical theater, and drama.

The Black Box Theatre/  NoStrings Theatre Company produces local plays annually, including contempory, classic, and new works. The theatre is located at 430 Main St (on the downtown mall).

Dona Ana Lyric Opera is located at the corner of Espina St, and Horseshoe DR. They offer popular operatic performance several times a year at New Mexico State University Music Center Recital Hall.

Las Cruces Chamber Ballet has 2 major performance a year, one of which is The Nutcracker Ballet.  Located in the NMSU Music Reciatl Hall at the corner of Espina St. and Horseshoe Dr.

Las Cruces Community Theater provides local talent with a place o perform year round in a number of plays. Located at 313 N. Downtown Mall.

Las Cruces Symphony has nationally known artists between October and may. Located at the corner of Espina St & Horseshoe Dr. in the NMSU Music Center Recital Hall.

Fountain Theatre is New Mexico’s oldest movie theater.  It was built in 1906 and is located in historic Old Mesilla. The theater showcases independent, documentary, and foreign films.

Rio Grande Theater is located at 211 N Downtown mall and is a state of the arts performing arts center.
