Golf in Las Cruces

New Mexico State University Golf Course located on Herb Wimberly Dr (575-646-3219) was designed by Floyd Farley. The 18 hole course is framed by the majestic Organ Mountains to the east, and the Mesilla Valley to the west. The course measures over 7000 yards and provides a challenge to golfers of all levels. This course has a driving range, pro shop, putting green, restaurant, and snack bar.

Sonoma Ranch Golf Course located at 1274 Golf Club Ln (575-521-1818) was designed by Cal Olsen. The course is long with rolling hills, strewn with bunkers and undulating bent grass greens. With five tee boxes, the course offers a challenge for all levels of golfers.  Sonoma Ranch has a clubhouse and full service restaurant, driving range, putting green, and pro shop.

Las Cruces Country Club is located in the heart of the city at 2700 N. Main St.(575-526-8731) This 18 hole golf course has small bent grass greens and open bent grass fairways. This is a semi private club and is open to the public after 12PM. During the summer months, they offer a golf special of $30.00 + tax for all the golf you want to play after 2 PM.

Sonoma Ranch will offer you, our guest, a discount for playing on their course. Please ask the front desk staff to make your reservations for you. There are several other public courses in the surrounding communities.

Bicycling in the Mesilla Valley

Discover fun bicycle trails in the Las Cruces and Mesilla Valley. There are trails for every level of rider, from beginner to experienced. Take a self guided ride along the Rio Grande River, through historic Old Mesilla and  down Highway 28 through Stahmann Farms pecan orchard. Map My Ride web site has suggestions for bike rides throughout the Las Cruces area.You can also join a group of cyclists in an organized ride. Organized rides are available year round are are hosted by Outdoor Adventures, Bike and Chowder Club, R.O.Y.A.L.S.(women only road ride), and Dave Haliburton (mountain bike rides).

Tennis

If you are a tennis enthusiast, there are several public tennis courts in Las Cruces for you to enjoy. They are located at Apodaca Park (801 E Madrid),  Frenger Park ( 800 Parkview),  Lions Park, (701 E Picacho), and Young Park (1905 E. Nevada). Please ask the front desk, if you need directions to the parks.

Swimming

Whether you want to take the family or just enjoy a few laps yourself, Las Cruces provides plenty of aquatic facilities to fulfill your needs. Laabs Pool (701 W. Picacho) is open May through August, and Frenger Pool (800 Parkview) is an indoor pool and is open year round. The new Las Cruces Aquatic Center is opening soon and will feature a therapeutic pool, leisure pool with a water slide, lap swimming area and  lazy river.
