Within Walking Distance

When staying at the Hacienda RV Resort, you can find all that you need within a 2 mile radius. Don’t want to unhook, while you’re here, but want to experience the flavors of the southwest? You can easily walk or bike to many of our local attractions, restaurants, and shopping.
Historic Old Mesilla was once the largest town between San Antonio and San Diego and a local hang out for Billy the Kid.  You can walk through the town square and shop for authentic western jewelry, pottery, and home decor, or visit some of the art galleries featuring local artists.  The San Albino Catholic Church (located on the square in Old Mesilla) originally built of adobe in 1855, and rebuilt to its present structure in 1906, was recently named the second Basilica in New Mexico. Gadsden’s Museum and the Old Fountain Theater are also located in Old Mesilla.
You can experience fine dining at the Double Eagle restaurant which features an award winning wine list and dry aged steaks. They also have a great Sunday Brunch. Don’t forget to ask your waiter or waitress about the haunted dining room!
If you are in the mood for some great Mexican cuisine, you can head for Andele’s, El Comedor, Café Don Felix, Los Mariachis, Adobe Cafe,or La Posta restaurants.
If you are looking for something other that Mexican food try
Lorenzo’s which offers a wide selection of Italian food, Josephina’s which has delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads, St Clair Winery and Bistro, which features New Mexico wines and bistro style food, or El Paisano Café, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dick’s Café was voted #1, in having the best Green Chili Cheeseburger in town. The Bean has a great selection of coffees, teas, pastries, and sandwiches.
St Clair Winery & Bistro and Luna Rosa Winery have wine tastings and sell New Mexico wines.
There is upscale shopping for men, women, and children all within the Old Mesilla area, along with a Harley Davidson store for all the biker enthusiasts. Las Cosas Kitchenware Store has everything you’ll need to prepare that gourmet meal in your RV.   20 X Grooming Salon is open 7AM-5 PM Monday – Saturday for your furry traveling companion. Super Wal-Mart is within walking distance for all your grocery, liquor, and pharmacy needs. Wal-Mart also has a Hair Salon, Pharmacy, Eye Doctor, Nail Salon, and Bank. Within the Wal-Mart plaza, you can also find a Pet’s Barn, Sally’s Beauty Supply, Radio Shack, Subway, and Starbucks.  Applebee’s and Cracker Barrel are also in the area and offer family dining.
For family and friends that would like to visit during your stay, there are several choices such as Comfort Inn, Springhill Suites, La Quinta Inn, and the Hampton Inn. Days Inn offers hotel amenities, along with a full service restaurant, bar and entertainment.
Las Cruces was named by Money magazine as ‘One of the Best Places to Retire in the country in 2002”. It was also named #1 Small Metro Areas to do Business” by Forbes / Milken Institute.
Las Cruces is the second largest city in New Mexico. If you’re here over night and do not want to unhook, we have plenty to offer with walking distance, but I would encourage you to stay awhile.  There is much more to experience in the surrounding areas.  Come let us show you what “Southwestern Hospitality” is all about!
